All currency issued by The United States in 1869 had a very unique multi-colored paper. Today collectors refer to them as “rainbow’ notes. In 1869, the $2 United States Note was redesigned with the now familiar portrait of Thomas Jefferson to the left and a vignette of the United States Capital in the center. Although this note is technically a United Stated Note, Treasury Note appeared on it instead of United States Note. Considered as one of the most beautiful banknotes in history.
